My first application failed!
It’s no real surprise: it was for a position at Conservation magazine, which is in Seattle—i.e., the sacred burial ground of environmentalists. The rejection e-mail said there were 200 applications—not quite as bad as the academic job market, but competitive enough. On the plus side, at least the editor actually sent a note! It left me with good feelings.
Onward, then, to Application 2, which is internal to where I now work, and which I submit for no better reason than the money.
