Daniel Day-Lewis

Lynn Hirschberg has a fascinating portrait of Daniel Day-Lewis in last week’s New York Times Magazine. She explores his enigmatic character, his übermethod acting, and particularly his fascination with America, which reminded me of this essay by Jim Cullen about teaching U.S. history through Day-Lewis films.

(Day-Lewis also played an important role the story of Arthur Miller’s son, Daniel, who has Down syndrome.)
