March of the Penguins

The penguins, anthropomorphized into two-working-parents families, are cute as they waddle across Antarctica, even in spite of the frozen deaths so many of them meet. Of course, it is a family film, so much of the death and destruction documented in the filmmaker’s video diary, which is included on the DVD, is downplayed or gently alluded to in Morgan Freeman’s narration. That death and destruction did, however, survive in the script: From, in the first five minutes, a crushing subject-verb disagreement to too frequent errors of number (How often Freeman explained, “the penguins kept their egg on their feet”!) throughout the film, March of the Penguins murders grammar. Could Warner Bros. not afford a copy editor?

PS. Did you know there are Antarctica webcams?
