Great Horned Owls

Two weeks ago, as we were walking in the neighborhood park, we spotted a Very Large Bird that looked like an owl. We followed it through the neighborhood and eventually it settled where we could see very distinctly that it was a great horned owl:

Yesterday at the same park we thought we spotted him again but quickly realized it was not the same owl. Rather, it was a very immature owl out on a stroll:

It is apparently a phase in the development of young owls for them to leave the nest before they can fly, like this one has. They are called “branchers”; compared to this brancher, ours appears to be close to fledging.
